Forever fighting the frizz? You're not alone. There are very few of us who don't need a little help keeping their hair beautifully sleek and shiny. And although hair styles come and go, straight hair has been "the look" to have for quite some time, and this doesn't look like changing any time soon. So you need to find the best hair straightening cream.
You don't want it, it's a must have. But there are so many choices, in my local drug store alone I found 9 different creams, and online there are so many more to choose from. So I've done the leg work for you and selected the best the market has to offer. Take a look!
Selecting the top three was tough! Ones to use on dry hair, others on damp hair. Creams to use with hair dryers, others to use and let your hair dry naturally. Chemical free. Added heat protection. The list goes on! But the best available today are all excellent choices, and I recommend them all.

Because a cream can really make all the difference. There is nothing more gorgeous than silky, shiny straight hair. And nothing that sends us into a slight panic than frizzy hair. But let's be honest, most of us need to work to get this look! In fact, it can be really tough to get the look just right. But don't worry, styling your hair straight is a LOT easier if you use a straightening cream. You can get the look quicker and easier. Which means less time using your hair dryer or straightening irons which has to be good news for you and your hair!
So you know why to buy a straightening cream, now you need to work out which one!
A lot of the product descriptions and usage instructions can sound really technical. Mostly they aren't. But there are certain things you are going to want from your hair straightening cream, the essentials!
Straight sleek hair really is achievable at home. And while a hair straightening cream is a vital part of this, it can't be done alone.
You'll need a few other things to get that look. A hair dryer is a must. And with it a paddle brush to help pull your hair into a straight style. Also remember, after washing and conditioning your hair (don't skip the conditioner, your hair will need it!) you must towel dry it first. Don't put your hair straightening cream directly only wet hair. You need it damp. Then you're all set to go. Hair dryer at the ready, and straight hair awaits!
Below is a useful video that explains how to use hair straightening cream in the best way.
Finding the top 3 was not easy! (Did I mention there seem to be a lot of hair straightening creams available?) But in the process of trying them all, I have to say I've had great looking hair! The reason I went for the top 3 is that all of them lasted at least 24 hours, none of them left my hair feeling coated in product and neither did they smell bad. I don't like putting products on my freshly washed hair that smell bad!
There was pretty much nothing not to like with this one. It does the job better than the other creams on the market, and it does it with a relatively small amount of product. So the tube lasts longer and you also don't feel that your hair is weighed down with product. A really great product, and a must have for creating straight locks.
It's lightweight, great scented and even made my hair stay cleaner looking for longer. Which let's face it, when you've gone to the effort of straightening your hair, the longer your look lasts the better! I didn't need to use much at all to get the straight look, and found my hair styled straight really easily when using this product. It's an added bonus that it offers colour protection. I do often colour my hair and find that styling it with heat products makes my colour fade quicker, so finding a product that helps get gorgeous straight hair and still maintains my colour is a total bonus!
Honestly, there isn't much you could do to improve this product. I would love it if there were a hair straightening cream that worked on wet hair, so I didn't need to blow dry and style my hair at all. But there isn't. And until there is, this is the product to go for!
Oh, and one more thing. It says unisex on the label. If you've bought this for yourself and your boyfriend/flat mate/brother thinks he can use it because of the "unisex" label, I guess removing this label would be a good thing! Hand off my straightening cream! ?
A brilliant product. It contains oleo keratin. What this means to you and me, is that the cream penetrates the hair to provide up to 72 hours of frizz control. Wow! 72 hours. That's amazing. And probably the best feature about this product.
I think the best feature is that your look lasts such a long time. I found that once I had styled my hair straight it lasted a couple of days. I then used the cream to go over the dry ends of my hair to help maintain the look. So I would say that as long as you don't go for a long walk along a windy coast this look will absolutely last for 2 or 3 days easily.
So why isn't this product at number 1? Well, it wasn't an easy decision, but the reason I went for this one at number two is that it took me longer to get the look I wanted with this product. Whereas with the Goldwell straightening cream, my hair was much easier than usual to style straight, with this L'Oreal product I found styling my hair to take about as long as it would without a straightening cream. The main advantage was that the style lasted so much longer with L'Oreal's cream. So this is personal choice. I know some people would prefer this product as the look lasts. But for me, I tend to wash my hair quite regularly anyway, so a product that makes drying straight easier is more important for me. Both are excellent!
I loved the lightweight feel of the product. Very natural, felt like I was giving my hair a spa treatment with the gorgeous scent of sweet almond. It absolutely controls frizz and gave me a silky look and feel for 24 hours and, like the others, has heat protection included.
It absolutely does what it says. I had no frizz for 24 hours and did feel that my hair felt smoother when using the product. Styling my hair straight was also a little easier, I think because of the additional conditioning elements in the product. I definitely achieved a straight look in less time than without the cream. Which is great, and one of the main things I want from a straightening cream! While it doesn't help colour treated hair to last longer, it is safe to use on coloured hair so you know it won't react with your colour!
Lasting 24 hours is fine for me. But I know a lot of people would want to be able to keep their lovely straight look for longer. And I did find that into the second day, I started to notice a few areas of my hair that looked a little frizzy or flyaway.
I would happily use any one of these hair straightening creams again. In fact, I wouldn't straighten my hair without one. Each product got rid of frizz, kept a great silky style for at least 24 hours and made styling straight easier than without.
But, the best of a very strong group is the Goldwell cream. Anything that helps me spend considerably less time straightening my hair, produces glossy locks, protects my colour and lasts is a winner in my eyes!
