Keeping your hair tidy is a lot more of a task than it used to be. Reach a certain age and there's hair sprouting where it shouldn't, and no longer growing where it should. This last bit is quite a task to solve. But thankfully trimming your nose hair is really easy and something most of us will end up doing regularly. So we're going to take a look at the best nose hair trimmers around so you can waste before you start trimming!
It's worth noting, that quite a few nose hair trimmers on the market will also be suitable for ear and facial hair trimming. In our trials, we assessed based on how good a nose hair trimmer each product was. That said, if a trimmer is multi-use this is definitely a plus point that we will note down.

Groom Mate Platinum XL Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer

Well really, if you have stray nose hairs, you need to tidy those up. And using your razor or a pair of nail scissors won't do the job and may cause a nasty accident. So a fit for purpose tool in the shape of nose hair trimmers is needed.
So the reasons to buy a nose hair trimmer is quite straightforward. No one should really need convincing that this is a must-buy if you've got hairs poking out.
There are a few points to consider when buying nose hair trimmers. Factor these in when making your decision.
Aside from these main differences between products, hair trimmers are pretty similar. The main differences after this will come down to the materials used for the casing; plastic vs. steel which affects the price but done the function of the product.
Yes, it isn't just there to annoy and give you another job to do in keeping it tidy. It has a biological function. It protects you from airborne infectious agents by creating a barrier between your respiratory systems and the outside world. Does that mean we should leave it there to do its job? Well not entirely. You really don't need very much nose hair to form this barrier and protect yourself. Certainly nowhere near as much as seems to be sprouting from many men's noses! So don't worry, you can trim away especially in the outer section of your nose.
Let's Talk Technique
Now first off, do this in private, this will not have you looking your best. Start by pressing backwards on the tip of your nose to create a pig's nose shape. This has the advantage of increasing the size of your nostrils for easy access of your trimmers as well as allowing you to get a good look in there. Once you've made your pig's nose, gently circle around your nostrils with your nose hair trimmer to clip the hairs. But do NOT press too hard. You need to avoid cuts inside your nose as these could become infected and that will hurt. You can use the trimmer to reach the parts of your nose you can't see. Go gently and listen for the sound of the hairs being cut.
One of the big problems you want to avoid is in-growing nose hairs. They can be a little sore and to get rid of them we recommend the following technique:
Insert a warm cloth gently into your nose using your finger. This is to try to soften the skin. You will need to do this for several minutes, warming the cloth up a few times.
Once you've softened the skin well, you then use the cloth again this time to gently rub your finger on the spot of the ingrown hair to try to loosen the hair.
Now disinfect the spot where the ingrown hair was with a cotton swab of alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. Finally apply antiseptic ointment to further soften the sharp hairs in your nose to avoid future ingrown hairs.
So now we've gone over how to use them and why, let's take a look at our top three.
This water resistant nose trimmer is accurate, pain free and really high quality. No cheap plastic body, you get stainless steel casing and you can feel the quality of this trimmer.
It is a really high quality product that does a great job. And considering the quality you're getting, it is a really good price too. Great trimmer, great results no matter how much hair there is to trim!
Although performance wasn't affected, a couple of our triallists did notice that after sustained use the product would warm up a little. Could be a little disconcerting!
This multi-purpose product has the added advantage of being able to use wet or dry and having a vacuum cleaning system. Great product.
It does a great job at trimming not only your nose, but also ears and facial hair. Great design, easy to use. Works equally well wet or dry and we loved the vacuum system for cleaning.
We missed having a light on the product for nose trimming. Also, and on a lesser note, the cap is really not well made compared to the rest of the product. Doesn't seem to fit with the quality of the product at all.
Another nose and ear hair trimmer. But with a difference. This one is not battery powered. 100% stainless steel and includes a lifetime warranty. If you want a manual trimmer, this is definitely the way to go.
The patented rotary blade system is guaranteed to never dull and never pull or yank out your hairs. And for our testers, it didn't. Simple, safe and effective nose hair trimmer.
One of our testers with very short and fine hairs (admittedly they probably wouldn't need a nose hair trimmer just yet!) found that this product was less effective at hair removal.
So if you have a nose hair problem, any one of these top three will help you out. Our number one edged it mostly because of the light. It was really helpful, especially for first time users to see what you're doing up there! Whichever you choose, we don't think you'll be disappointed.
